Monsters at Work Sequences
We had an opportunity to explore character interactions by using dialog from existing television shows to see how they would work with our characters. I boarded this sequence based on a scene from the Office where Jim pranks Dwight by replacing his belongings in the vending machine.
A montage of Duncan, who recently promoted himself to supervisor, abusing Tylor.
During story development, there was a prompt to explore a character named Banana Bread. There were three directives: He brought banana bread to work every week, he only spoke in fart sounds, and he wouldn't resemble a banana. I wrote and boarded this moment to show how his character could be introduced.
I had the chance to pitch ideas about the lead character Tylor Tuskmon. Concepts included finding comedic moments for his wide horns and his inability to make the kids laugh. In addition there was a concept for group therapy sessions for displaced scarers, and how monsters might bowl. I also came up with a scene of Fritz that wound up in the final version of the Damaged Room episode.
